LEGAL AID CAMP AT BANTHARA

A Legal Aid Camp was held at Prasad Institute of Technology, Banthara on 25/12/2011 from 10:00am to 1:00pm by the RMLNLU Legal Aid Committee. It was attended by around 150 people who had some kind of legal issues. In total 88 applications are being drafted which will be forwarded to the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA).

A general  briefing about Consumer Protection Laws, Protection against Domestic Violence Act, dowry, rights of the accused, laws governing pension policies for widows, senior citizens etc., laws relating to insurance, civil and criminal offences, benefits of using Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a mode of dispute redressal, relief available under the Legal Services Authority Act etc was done. The Legal Aid Committee is in constant touch with the State Legal Services Authority and is grateful for the support rendered and the faith shown by SLSA.

The Legal Aid Camp organized at Banthara was a great success and we are looking forward to organizing more such camps in future.

Registrations for the National Mediation Competition

It is our great pleasure to be organizing the, first of its kind, Dr. RMLNLU National Mediation Competition 2012, January 13-15 2012.

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was established by an Act of Govt. Of Uttar Pradesh in 2005, U.P. Act No.28 of 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006 to meet up the new challenges in legal field and to strengthen the vision that was given by the establishment of first National Law University of the country.

Qualified as the only Competition of this nature in South Asia, it would be highly grateful if law colleges and National Law Universities send a team to participate in the competition.

The College registrations are open till 15th December, 2011 and the team registrations are open till 20th December, 2011. A total of 24 teams shall be selected for the competition on the first come first serve basis. The rules of the event shall be posted very soon. A team shall comprise of two members who will act as mediators in the competition.

The registrations can be mailed to lac.rmlnlu@gmail.com. We kindly request that the participation of the institution be confirmed first and at the earliest. Feel free to contact in case of any assistance.

Volunteer Registration open for the National Mediation Competition

The Legal Aid Committee invites students to be a part of 1st RMLNLU National Mediation Competition scheduled for 13/01/2012- 15/01/2012. Interested students may register themselves as Volunteers by sending a mail with subject "volunteer registration" on lac.rmlnlu@gmail.com and cc to anastanwir@gmail.com. The clients for the event will be selected from the registered volunteers on discretion of the committee. You will also be provided with a certificate of appreciation.Students who are available in first week of jan may only register. Being conducted for the first time in India and it being our first flagship law event,it has to be big and it can only be big when you all will supports us.

NATIONAL MEDIATION COMPETITION- INTRA

The University Intra rounds for the National Mediation Competition was held on 12/11/2011 to 13/11/2011. Around 60 teams had registered for the same. Some of the judges were Mr.I.B.Singh, Mr. Yashowardhan Swaroop, A.K.Rai etc. We got great support from the Lucknow Mediation Center. The finalists were: Anindya Roy, Shuvro Lahiri and Ipsita Mazumdar, Manish Rohilla. The team of Ipsita Mazumdar and Manish Rohilla won the Intra and they will represent RMLNLU in the National Mediation Competition scheduled for 13-15Jan, 2012.

2: 00 PM – Participants reporting time
2:00 PM – Client briefing and judges briefing
3:00PM to 4:00 PM (30 min round) – Prelim I (10 courtrooms) (20 clients) (20 judges)
4:15PM to 5:00 PM (30 min round) – Prelim II (10 courtrooms) (20 clients) (20 judges)
5:00PM to 6:00 PM (Break) – High tea (Announcement of results)
6:00PM to 6:45PM (30 min round) – Quarter finals (8 courtrooms) (16 clients) (16 judges)
7:00 PM – Announcement of result

13th November 2011:
9:00AM to 10:00AM – Semi-finals (4 courtrooms) (8 clients) (8 judges)
10:00AM to 11:00AM – High tea
11:00AM to 12:00AM – Final I (2 clients) (2 judges)
12:00PM to 1:00PM – Finals II (2 clients) (2 Judges)
1:00PM to 1:30PM – Lunch and Announcement of Results
