Legal Aid & Beyond...

Legal Aid implies giving implies giving free legal aid to the disadvantaged with a view to enable such people to assert their entitlements and establish their rights. In accordance with the spirit of Article 39A of the Constitution of India,the Legal Aid Committee of RMLNLU plans to do the same by opening a Legal Aid Clinic soon. However, the LAC is not just restricted to this. We believe in changing the red tape-ism by using RTI as a tool. The basic aim is to ensure that people have access to justice. Therefore, RTI is important as it also endeavors to bring about transparency and make people aware of what concerns them. In furtherance of this objective, the first RTI of the many RTIs that are going to be filed on behalf of the LAC, was filed on April 23rd, 2011 by its Convener,Anas Tanwir Siddiqi. It demands information about minimum wages provided to class IV employees of RMLNLU, Lucknow. This is just a glimpse of all the good things that we plan to do in the future.
